Kombi Bed II

Introducing the Exploria ‘Kombi Bed II’

We have been producing our massively popular ‘Kombi Bed’ for over 10 years now and as with all of our work at Exploria, we strive to continually improve our products and designs. Due to an increasing demand and much time spent researching the best components & materials, we now have the Exploria Kombi Bed II.

The Kombi Bed II allows you to have a full width rear bed, which is fully removable & yet still allows you to carry up to three rear passengers, hence maintaining the functionality of your existing rear Kombi seats. Thousands of our beds have been tried and tested, which is a testament to how popular & versatile it is, giving you a true ‘multi purpose’ vehicle.

Here are its main advantages:

  • Designed for those who want more from a van
  • Fits both T5 and T6 vans
  • Easily installed for weekends away, whilst quickly removable for workdays
  • Easy to store; just four legs and one frame
  • Usable with VW T5 factory Kombi rear seats
  • Suitable for both LWB and SWB Transporters and Shuttles
  • Allows mass storage above & beneath
  • High quality foam allows comfortable full width sleeping
  • Acts as a parcel shelf to hide your possessions, whether it is bikes, windsurf equipment, tools etc.
  • Utilises existing floor fixings – no need to create new fixing points
  • Robust construction, built to last
  • High quality finish

  • Now fitted with an industrial grade ball bearing sliding system – gives a much smoother operation & reduces the risk of any rattles
  • Now comes with fully removable rear cushions – allows the bed to be used more as a parcel shelf when not needing the cushions & also means you can use the cushions outside of the van (they make a super comfy sunbed!)
  • Cushion covers can be removed and washed if required
  • Black powder coating to the frame and legs – gives a more factory look to suit T5/T6 interiors

Bed Height

We offer the Kombi bed in six different heights, to cater for all requirements. When ordering your Kombi Bed, please let us know which leg size you require. The tallest three (Sizes 4, 5 & 6) all allow the bed to be used with rear Kombi seats still in place; however, the lowest three (Sizes 1, 2 & 3) cannot be used in conjunction with any rear seating.

Please note that due to the extending section of the Kombi Bed, the clearance underneath the bed is 5cm lower at the front than it is at the back. All measurements are stated below.

Leg Size Clearance Underneath Finished Bed Height
Rear of bed Front of bed
1 41 cm 37 cm 56 cm
2 53 cm 49 cm 68 cm
3 56 cm 52 cm 71 cm
4 61 cm 57 cm 76 cm
5 66 cm 62 cm 81 cm
6 71 cm 67 cm 86 cm

Please note that in leg sizes 1 – 3, due to the profile of the vehicle at the rear end (where the tail-light clusters are) the rear corners of the bed are tapered to fit.

The length of the Kombi Bed when fully extended is 194cm / 6‘4”. When the sliding section is closed the length of the bed is 134cm / 4‘5”. The width of the bed is 145cm / 4’9”.

Shuttle and Kombi Vans with Rear Heaters

We have a specifically design Exploria Kombi Bed to suit vehicle with rear trip panels and heaters. This bed is 7cm narrower than the standard version and is available in leg length sizes 4 and above. Unfortunately, size 4 is the lowest shuttle compatible version of the Kombi Bed.

We can offer the Kombi Bed in any VW T5 or T6 fabric, such as Tasamo, Anthracite, Austin, Simora, Place or Inka. If you are wanting a more robust finish, vinyl is a popular choice, as it is hardwearing, durable and a cheaper alternative than leather. Due to the many variations of fabrics, we may not always have them all available ‘off the shelf’ and so the lead time can vary.

The additional cost for vinyl upholstery is £25 + VAT.

The additional cost for leather upholstery is £425 + VAT.

The Kombi Bed is priced at £825 + VAT (in any VW Fabric)

Lead Times

Please ensure you order your Kombi Bed in enough time. Our lead times can often vary from 2 to 4 weeks, depending on demand, the finish you require and the time of year!

Postage & Packing

We always ensure that the beds are well packaged, in a high grade cardboard box & with foam corner protectors to prevent any damage in transit. Your bed will be shipped via courier on an Express service (usually next day delivery, but not always guaranteed). Please note, someone will need to be home to accept the delivery and to assist the driver with unloading. Please ensure that when accepting your delivery from the courier, you check the goods over fully to ensure that both parcels are present and also to check for any signs of damage before signing for them as in good condition. Delivery is fully insured in case of damage as long as items are signed as "damaged" and we are informed within 24 hours. Please note that we are unable to accept any liability for goods that are not signed for correctly (good condition / unchecked).

The price for P&P is £50 + VAT
